As an athlete and a business person, everything John Newcombe does and has achieved is certainly on a scale that can best be described as world class. He holds seven Grand Slam Tennis men’s singles titles – 26 major titles in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, overall. He and fellow tennis great Rod Laver, are the only players to ever win both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon men’s singles titles as both an amateur and as a professional. This International Tennis Hall of Fame legend also owns the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch & Tennis Academy immediately adjacent to the Estate and Country Club. The former No. 1-ranked player in the world is as passionate about the stunning Texas Hill Country as he is about tennis. His U.S. base of operations in New Braunfels, Texas has been an exciting destination for tennis buffs and those with an eye for value for nearly 50 years!
Before Texas was even a state, the land around New Braunfels was settled by Native Americans who were attracted to the lush woods and distinctive landscape by the availability of natural spring water. Later, the land in the area was offered to adventurous settlers who wanted to make it their home. German immigrants selected the region for its beauty and abundant natural resources and the German influence in the New Braunfels area remains a rich part of its history. Today, the area continues to be an oasis of sorts with sturdy oaks, parks, ponds and natural features of Texas Hill Country. The site includes many areas dedicated to open space that will be preserved and left undeveloped. Fastrack is part of Phase 1 of the development with three additional phases planned for the future. Thoughtful growth with an eye towards preserving the area’s natural beauty is the philosophy of JNECC.
